WE ARE BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!

Dear Supporter:

Thank you for visiting my website. As a first term member of the Michigan House of Representatives, I have been rewarded beyond measure with the trust and respect that Detroiters have given me and humbled by being chosen to serve. You have allowed me an opportunity of a lifetime: The ability to serve the people and city I truly love.

As you may have heard, the redistricting maps were signed into law last year. The Michigan Legislative Black Caucus exhausted all legal remedies to challenge the Republican maps. The new maps have several current representatives pitted against each other in the next elections.

Unfortunately, I happen to be one of them. This is one of the many tactics that the Republicans used in the redistricting process that is detrimental to the people of Detroit.  That means my fight to retain office will be more voracious that most incumbent races and I have and will be asking for earlier support than ever before.

Please visit this website often and know that I am fighting everyday to ensure that Detroit gets better and Michigan gets stronger! Until we meet again….

Now more than ever, faced with tough economic and social times, residents of the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan need representation in the State House that knows the inner workings of government, and can hit the ground running to protect our interests. I am that person. During my first term in office I have forged relationships with others across the political spectrum and stood my ground in the face of daunting pressure to capitulate positions just because my party does not control the State House. I have stood for what is right and will continue to fight for not only for the middle class, our school children and the seniors who are often most in need.
